Bio | I am a historian of 19th-century Ireland, Britain, and the British Empire. My first book, Outrage in the Age of Reform, was published in 2022 by Cambridge University Press and explores the way that Irish agrarian violence shaped Britain’s decade of reform, linking together violence, politics, and imperial insecurity. My next book project is a study of the Queen’s Colleges and their relationship to the British Empire across the mid-19th and early 20th-centuries. I am a permanent lecturer in 19th-century Irish History at University College Cork, where I was appointed in 2018. In addition to my teaching and research, I am also the Treasurer of the Society for the Study of Nineteenth Century Ireland (SSNCI) and the Irish Editor of the Irish Literary Supplement. |
