JOIN THE COMMITTEE

The IAPH is always open to hearing from members who are interested in joining the Committee and actively contributing to the activities and aims of the Association, for the benefit of the discipline and profession.

Join the Committee

The Committee consist of between nine and twelve members, and includes at least four officers (Director, Executive Secretary, Treasurer and Social Media Officer). Members are elected for a term of four years, while Officers serve for a term of three years.

As and where vacancies arise, new Members can be co-opted onto the Committee at any time (but their positions will not become official until they are nominated and elected at the next Annual General Meeting).

In general, the IAPH Committee meets 2-5 times a year to complete their work and deadlines. The majority of the meetings are remote via Zoom/Teams. However, face-to-face meetings may take place each year according to needs and objectives of running the Association. You will be expected to take on responsibilities in the Committee and tasks to ensure the successful delivery of IAPH events and the general business of the Association. These include filling Officer positions as and when they become available.

Any IAPH Member can put themselves forward at any time to be placed upon the ‘Prospective Committee Members List’. As and when a vacancy arises, those persons will be notified and invited onto the Committee temporarily and subject to them undergoing the required endorsement at the next Annual General Meeting.

Vacancies on the Committee can also be advertised in advance of Annual General Meetings, at which time members can also submit their interest in being elected.

If you are a member and would like to be placed upon the ‘Prospective Committee Members List’, please email info@irishhistorians.ie.
