Applications from professional historians who do not hold a PhD will be peer reviewed. Please do not sign up to IAPH before this process is completed. Applicants must submit their curriculum vitae and one sample of written work to

Our peer reviewers are anonymous; they are asked to consider the applicant’s curriculum vitae and a sample of written work in order to determine if the applicant is engaged in intellectual work of a nature and standard comparable to that of an historian who has completed a doctorate. They will be asked to determine if the sample of work submitted meets professional standards of historical research, i.e. does it adhere to normative conventions of academic work such as referencing, engagement with historiography, use of primary sources etc.

Please note that the peer-review process may take a number of months. Applicants will be informed of the outcome of their application as soon as possible.
