This day last month the IAPH was launched at the Royal Irish Academy. Over 130 people attended. This sizeable turnout reflected the support we have received before and since the launch. Good will and good wishes have come from historians from all over Ireland and further afield, and we are delighted that the IAPH has been recognised by so many as a positive initiative.

Our thanks go to Minister Jimmy Deenihan TD for launching the association, and to Cathal Ă“ hOisĂn MLA and Professor Mary Daly, President of the Royal Irish Academy, for speaking at the event.
If you couldn’t attend the launch you can listen to RoisĂn Higgins’ speech, which explains what the IAPH is, and what it is for, here:
Since the launch we have been busy organising our first training event (see our Events page) and processing our new members, many of whom have been busy populating their IAPH directory profiles. The directory will go live on Saturday, 17th May, and will be a useful resource for both historians and the public.
We are very grateful to those who have emailed us with suggestions for events and to those who have expressed a willingness to get involved; we encourage others to do the same. As a members’ association the views of our members are paramount.
IAPH Committee.
